the neck isn't wide enough to stop my child putting it to the back of their throat
that's kind of the point, the neck is designed to prevent children's hands from slipping into the scoop, but not to prevent them from putting the whole spoon in their mouth, this kind of exploration is great for the gag reflex and readiness for different solids textures
