LUMBER BACK 120 YEARS WITH THEODORE
A classic teddy from 1900's New York. Quite a legend among his kind, did someone important preside over his naming?
Theodore is the first plush teddy bear, a classic from the early 1900s Brooklyn. He was born from the rise of the home sewing movement, before teddy bears ever had a name. His story is said to begin when President Roosevelt famously refused to harm a captured bear on a hunting trip, an act of compassion that inspired a new kind of toy. Soon after, a bear was stitched in his honour and given a name: Teddy’s Bear.
Theodore is a plush that honours craftsmanship, compassion, and the moment a toy became a timeless icon.
